Tilja

Tilja is a research focused design project that investigates kelp’s ability to capture heavy metals, which are toxic to most wildlife, from the body. Heavy metals accumulate in the body through diet, skin contact and inhalation, causing all sorts of harm. The motivation behind Tilja is my desire to find the cause of my Eczema, an inflammatory condition. Engineered kelp masks and seaweed solution can decrease accumulated heavy metals in the body, thus theoretically decreasing inflammation. Good design ensures a shame free usage that the user will not feel the need to hide evidence of use behind bathroom cabinets.
